I was born in a small state named after a saint, San Marino. A place that relies entirely on myths and legends, with porous but well-defined borders in its geographic and normative narrative. Growing up in an environment shaped by seclusion, daily rituals, and a pervasive presence of tradition has profoundly influenced the core of my practice: the tension between desire and the structures that contain it.
My work is driven by the need to understand what happens to desire when it cannot reach its object. I have focused on spaces where contact is virtual but not actualized, like screens and electronic interfaces that produce desire and pleasure while presupposing distance and absence. Pornography became a starting point as an extreme representation of contact that is simultaneously a confirmation of its impossibility. From there, pornography became a process, a relational structure in which the positions between subject and object dissolve and representation erodes. I carry out tactile processes of transfer and subtraction, working images onto plaster, adhesive tape, latex until they become inert bodies. It is for me a way of making tactile what resists being reached.
In performance, this same tension takes another form. My countertenor voice seeks attunement with domestic appliances, sometimes pursuing an unstable unison with the machine, sometimes exploding in a baroque register against its noise. The domestic space is the operative field: the place where desire has intensified without finding release.
From this condition mythologies emerge generated by the domestic itself. By what happens when you remain too long in enclosed, peripheral spaces where desire has had time to transform into something else. These mythologies are populated by hybrid bodies, unstable voices, and speculative narratives. I have developed them so far through drawing; they are now expanding into other media, taking the form of fabricated archives and choral structures.
